Hello friends. On a current school project, an abuse resistant wall covering has been proposed as an alternative to our typical MDF wainscot. The proposed product has been used successfully in healthcare, and switching to it will save the project almost $1million, which is no small amount when the project is over budget and 7-figure cost savings are hard to come by. The problem is that the proposed product, P3Tec, is a PVC-based wall covering. It has an EPD, an HPD, and overall seems great: it satisfies LEED criteria, saves money, provides durable wall protection. However, the PVC content is a dealbreaker for me, so I'm beginning an effort to find a better alternative and I'm reaching out to all of you. Have you used a non-PVC abuse-resistant wall covering or wainscot that is both less expensive than MDF but also non-toxic and even Red List compliant? Since P3Tec comes from the healthcare sector, I'm wondering if those of you working in healthcare (which is not one of our project types) are using other products?
Thanks for your help.
