Hi,
We are working in an EBOM v4.1 project. I have one question.
- According to ASHRAE 62.1-2016, Section 5.8, Particulate Matter Removal, MERV8 filters should be placed upstream cooling coils.
The HVAC system is existing and will not be modified during the upgrade of the building. Many of the evaporator units and AHU´s cannot work with MERV8 filters, as it is prescribed in ASHRAE 62.1-2016.
- Is this a prerequisite as it is in BD+C?
- Will the builging be able to certify even if they don´t count with MERV8 filters upstream the cooling coils?
Thank you,
Patrick Murisset

Hi Paula
In LEED O+M v4.1, you only have to comply with sections 6.2 (VRP) and 8.2 (O&M) for mechanical ventilation, according to this reference guide.
The filter efficiency is not verified by this reference guide.
It is required for LEED BD+C Projects.
Regards.
