NC-v4 EQc5:Thermal comfort

owner providing policy and option for thermal control devices to be installed for occupants?

Has anyone had sucess with this credit in a project where the owner has committed to providing thermal comfort controls (e.g., personal desk fan) to any workstation occupant that requests one?  Given that the 50% controls requirement is imperfect, I would think there would be an argument that this policy would be more effective for all occupants.

Dear Chris,   If owner only provides personal desk fan for occupants who request, then we can’t ensure the fulfillment of the at least 50% individual occupant spaces requirement. Because, at the end we need to fill up the individual occupant space and its thermal comfort control in the LEED form online. It’s better to assess from the beginning all the individual occupant spaces, then exclude the small rooms from the individual thermal comfort control, such as rooms that only have 2 or 3 occupants. The commitment letter is more appropriate to be used for the fulfillment of the future fitted out spaces requirement.   Thanks and regards.

we have been awarded this credit when the owner commits to providing comfort controls (such as a plug-in desktop fan) upon request.  GBCI required us to confirm how occupants are educated on requesting such controls.
