Yes, this would be required for Option 2 (assuming the DOASs represent more than 10% of the energy consumption). Here are the requirements outlined in the reference guide: "Provide documentation showing that the Building complies with LEED BD&C requirements for Advanced Energy Metering (either by uploading the BD&C LEED Review report for the building showing the credit has been approved, or by uploading the required submittals for LEED BD&C for the building). The building-level documentation may be provided only for shared systems that represent more than 10% of the building energy consumption (e.g. heating, cooling, service water heating), and does not need to be provided for tenant energy sources or end-uses that are entirely contained within the project space (e.g. interior lighting, receptacle equipment, etc.)."

Hi Tyler, I wanted to ask a foolow up question since I have a similar situation. My project occupies only a few floors in the building. The project will have some individual AHUs for some special purpose spaces but the office part of the project will be served by base building common AHUs.  For Option 2 what exactly has to be metered in the base building? Should all base building AHUs serving our space have individual electricity, heating and cooling meters?

In general, yes (again, assuming the AHU fans, heating, and cooling all represent more than 10% of the energy consumption). The reference guide does allow end-uses to be combined for systems such as packaged RTUs that can provide cooling, heating, and air handling but is cost and space prohibitive to submeter. 

Just to be sure: we have to show that these AHUs are submetered by the building owner if related portion of these end uses represent more than 10% of tenant's space energy consumption, correct? Not if the AHUs represent 10% of the building's energy consumption, correct?

Correct, all end-uses that represent 10% or more of the total annual consumption of the tenant space require meters. This is typically determined using the results of the energy model.
