Dear SD Leaders,
As some of you may have heard, EHDD has been working for the last year in developing a data model to support early phase goal setting for holistic low carbon design. This data model is at the heart of our Early Phase Integrated Carbon (EPIC) assessment tool. EPIC is a data-driven goal-setting tool for use in the earliest project phases, when information about the project is scarce but the potential for holistic carbon reduction is high.
We’re currently preparing EPIC for public release as a web application. In the meantime, we’re excited to announce a limited beta release of an Excel-based version of EPIC to some close friends and collaborators, including people on this list. The Excel-based version of the tool is only available for a limited time in advance of the release of the web-based version, and will be locked after September 15th, 2021. If you’re interested in participating in the limited beta, please fill out this form to receive a copy of the tool. Please don't share copies of the spreadsheet, but you can share this link to trusted colleagues and collaborators.
To me this is a continuation of the recent thread on AIA 2030 and "how we are going to get there". Our conclusions about the overly-simplified 3-step process to carbon neutrality -- plus Larry's important comment about build reuse/embodied carbon -- is supported by this tool. I really hope some of you take the time to try it out and share your observations and suggestions on how to make it better. Our aim is to share it freely and hope it makes a contribution towards getting us all to zero carbon faster.
Best,
