Hello SDLs,
I'm fairly new to the group, joined in November and I must confess to being a total wallflower here, having gone almost 6 months now without introducing myself. I am an Architect with Dyer Brown Associates in Boston, MA where I head up our firm's sustainability efforts, as well as devote a fair amount of time to 'extracurricular' activities in the sustainability and healthy materials realms - namely co-chairing the mindfulMATERIALS A&D Engagement working group and the CLF Boston chapter's Reuse subcommittee.
As I have been working to define a sustainability-focused role for myself within my firm over the past year, many of you have graciously taken the time to share your advice, experience, and insight and for that I am eternally grateful. In fact almost everyone I talked to emphasized the value they gained from being part of this peer network, so I'm glad the powers that be decided to let me in! :)
Our CLF Boston Reuse group is partnering with the BSA, Sustainable Performance Institute, and All For Reuse to host a "deconstruction hackathon" next week - a bit of an outgrowth of the work that the 'Material Flows and Social Impact' working group presented at the Summitpalooza, where attendees will collaborate in real time to generate details, specifications language, and identify materials and systems that can simplify future reuse. Our goal is for the outcome of this event to be a living database of details and spec language that can be downloaded and tweaked by any design team to incorporate into their projects. This wiki will be ultimately be hosted by Building Ease, and will build on the great guidelines that BuildingGreen put together for the AIA's 'Buildings That Last' guide. If anyone is interested in participating please sign up via Eventbrite here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/decon-hackathon-tickets-148951246187
