Hello SMEPers,
I’m hoping to crowd source some anecdotes for a guest lecture I’ll be giving at Yale’s architecture school. The topic is integrated design (especially between architects and engineers) and how it enables better sustainability outcomes.
John Boecker has this great story about how choosing a paint color with higher reflectance helped reduce the need for lighting, which in turn allowed the engineers to downsize the HVAC equipment (probably back before LEDs).
You all must have similar examples of great AE collaborations that had amazing sustainability returns. Surprising connections that illustrate systems thinking are a plus.
Appreciate any stories you can share! Feel free to respond directly (candace@buildinggreen.com)
