If an area adopts ASHRAE 90.1-2007 as its energy code, is it acceptable to still use ASHRAE 90.1-2004 for the baseline model, even though such a building would no longer meet code in the area?
Ruling
The rating system language for EA Credit 1 specifically references ASHRAE 90.1-2004 Appendix G (without addenda) as the basis for documenting credit performance under Option 1. As such, there is no requirement for project teams to use ASHRAE 90.1-2007 to document compliance even if their local jurisdiction requires compliance with ASHRAE 90.1-2007.
