Should public sidewalks be included in the calculation in SS 3, even if they are not part of the home lot? What if the homeowners have an opportunity to affect the material choice or place trees to shade these areas?
Public sidewalks (outside the lot of the project) should not be included in the calculation in SS 3. If the project team has influence over the choice of material for the sidewalk or installs new trees to shade public sidewalks, project-specific CIRs may be submitted. Please provide detail on the area of sidewalk adjacent to the lot and the measures being used to satisfy the credit requirements for the public sidewalk area. No credit will be awarded for having public sidewalks shaded by pre-existing trees off-site.
