What is the definition of \'A/V\' mode? For example, the first classroom has two modes, 2 swtiches. However, the fixtures are perpendicular to the smartboard. The inboard row of lights can be switched off, and the outboard can be left on, and visa versa. Is that considered \'A/V Mode\'? The second has 4 modes. In this control strategy, the lighting located in front of the smartboard can be evenly reduced. In this scenario, 4 switches would be installed. Are both classrooms compliant with the criteria?
The project team is seeking clarification on the rating system requirement for classrooms to, "provide a lighting system that operates in at least 2 modes: general illumination and A/V." The intent of the 2 mode requirement is to provide classroom teachers with a conveniently placed switch to reduce the amount of light shining on a monitor or projection screen (often located at the front of a classroom) while providing sufficient ambient levels for students to take notes to provide a higher-quality viewing experience in the classroom. Any strategy that achieves this intent is acceptable for credit achievement. In general, the proposed switching scenarios meet the intent of IEQc6.1 by providing an A/V mode with the potential for reduced illumination on a smartboard when it is used as a projection screen.
