Our project is a retail project registered under the LEED-NC v2.2 rating system. We would like to pursue an alternate compliance path for SS credit 4.2 based on the LEED-NC for Retail pilot program requirements for SSc4 Option B: Bicycle Commuting, which has the same credit intent as the LEED-NC v2.2 credit SSc4.2 to "reduce pollution and land development impacts from automobile use". Can we achieve this credit by providing bike racks for building users sized for 1% of the retail store\'s customers and 5% of employees and instituting a bike maintenance program (providing and maintaining a bike repair kit in the store for customer and employee use) according to the Retail pilot program credit requirements? Also related to this question, we would like to know if the four pre-approved ID credits from the Retail pilot program (Occupant Recycling Program, Reduced Mercury in Light Bulbs, Green Housekeeping, and Green Educational Program), which appear to be based on credits in the LEED-EB rating system, are transferable to LEED-NC v2.2 projects?
The proposed credit substitution for SSc4.2 will be allowed for this project under the following conditions: 1) Provide documentation that this is a "retail" project based on the LEED for Retail Pilot definition 2) Provide the required credit documentation as described under LEED for Retail Pilot along with calculations and a narrative explaining the credit substitution. Please note that this CIR will only be applicable during the LEED for Retail pilot program. Once the pilot is over, then a project like this would go through retail and the CIR would no longer be valid. Applicable Internationally.
