In gut-rehab projects, does the home have to have a drain pan and drain for ID 2.1 for water heaters? Is there some other way to meet this requirement if a project doesn\'t have a drain?

Gut-rehab projects must meet all wet room measures in ID 2.1 part (c), including those for water heaters. Alternatively, this could be met in one of the following ways: Install tankless water heater; locate water-heater so it is not in or above the living space; install an engineered system with a leak-detector and an automated supply valve, so when a leak occurs the water is automatically shut-off.
