The Rating System does not indicate whether the CO monitors should be battery powered or hardwired. Is there a requirement, or a preference?
Ruling
LEED for Homes does not require CO monitors to be battery-powered or hard-wired, but ideally the CO monitors will be hard-wired with battery backup. Many CO deaths are caused during power outages, when homeowners operate gas-powered appliances or generators in the home.
