Our residential project is on an existing university campus. No parking will be provided specifically for our building or in our project boundary since there is an existing parking garage across a campus street from our building site, where residents will park. The university is providing special "green" preferred parking stickers to faculty and students with qualifying vehicles as part of a new campus-wide initiative and residents of our building will have equal access to this program. Holders of these "Green Stickers" will pay 32% less than the typical rate for parking / garage passes on the campus. Can access to this program, along with the close proximity of the garage, be considered to earn this credit?
The project is inquiring whether the campus "green" preferred parking program would qualify this residential project for this credit. Stickers are issued to owners of qualifying "green" vehicles, and these sticker holders are eligible for a 32% discount off the parking rates. Based on CIR ruling dated 7/5/2007, this program meets the CIR requirements for the discounted rate (established at 20%). In order to achieve this credit however, the project would also need to confirm that the definition of "green" vehicles meets the credit requirements.
