This project is a custom home and the owners are now considering using rammed earth as their building system. Can this type of construction earn credits under MR1.3 (treated as comparable to SIP panels or advanced framing), or MR2.2 for EPP for framing materials?
Ruling
Rammed earth should not be awarded any credit under MR 1.3, as it is not necessarily more material-efficient than conventional framing. No credit should be awarded automatically under MR 2.2, but the TASC would consider granting credit for rammed earth as an EPP if a significant amount of flyash or slag is incorporated.
