This project is planning to satisfy EQ 4.1/4.2 using a passive ventilation strategy. The Reference Guide specifies that the HVAC engineer should provide calculations demonstrating adequate air-flow rates to the Green Rater (P. 291). How can an engineer conduct testing to demonstrate the air-flow rates?
Ruling
LEED for Homes does not dictate a particular approach for demonstrating air flow rates. The TASC recommends "Residential Passive Ventilation Systems: Evaluation and Design", by James W. Axley (see AIVC papers, ID #TN54), as a reference for both design and testing of passive ventilation strategies.
