Is it acceptable to use wood from territories or parts of countries that are located outside the tropics, even if the country of origin is located partly within the tropics? This project is purchasing wood from Tasmania, which is located entirely outside of the tropics (south of Capricorn). However, Tasmania is technically a territory of Australia and Australia is located within the tropics.
Wood from Tasmania that is not FSC-certified can be used in LEED for Homes projects. Specific CIRs must be submitted for cases where the origin of lumber is a territory or geographically isolated region that is outside of the tropics, but politically connected to a country that is located in the tropics. Applicable Internationally; Australia; Tasmania
