Does the backer board requirement in ID 2.1 part (c) apply to ceilings? What about the other walls in the bathroom - i.e. those not near the shower / bath?
Ruling
Nonpaper-faced gypsum is not required on ceilings or bathroom walls not near the tub, shower, or spa. However, it is encouraged, as is mold-resistant paint.
