Inquiry
For FSC certification, do contractors and sub-contractors need to have Chain of Custody? If the lumber is passed to a custom craftsman (e.g. cabinet maker), does that craftsman need to have Chain of Custody?
Ruling
No, contractors and sub-contractors working on the project do not need to have Chain of Custody. If the craftsman is working as a contractor to the project, and is not a manufacturer receiving wood directly from a supplier, the craftsman does not need to have Chain of Custody.
