In the Mid-rise Pilot Guidelines, EQ 4.1 part (b) refers to ASHRAE 62.1-2007, Table 5-1. This section includes a note that "Appendix F presents an acceptable alternative method of determining the minimum separation distance." Can the calculation in Appendix F be used to satisfy EQ 4.1 part (b)?
Ruling
EQ 4.1 part (b) can be satisfied by meeting the minimum separation distance requirement based on Appendix F. LEED for Homes has also created a guidance document with a simplified method for determining minimum separation distances based on Appendix F.
