Can sampling be used when there are multiple small multi-family buildings? The two sampling protocols that exist are for individual multi-family buildings and production single-family homes.
If a project includes multiple multi-family buildings and would like to use sampling, the project team and verification team should submit a proposal to USGBC describing the methodology, including how many units will be tested in each building, the timeline for testing, how failures will be addressed, and how randomness will be preserved. USGBC will review each proposal and either validate its use or suggest revisions. As with all projects planning to use sampling, the QA management components of the sampling protocol must be followed to ensure consistency.
