For the modernization of this historic government agency headquarters, we have calculated that we are reusing over 98% of the existing structure and shell, and as such earn 1 point for MRc1.1. In addition, we are reusing 21% of the non-shell elements. MRc1.2 requires 100% reuse of the shell, but none of the non-shell (50% of which is required by MRc1.3). Since we are reusing such a high percentage of the existing non-shell elements, in addition to nearly 100% of the existing shell, we feel that we are demonstrating equivalency with MRc1.2 and should be able to qualify for a total 2 points under Materials Credit 1 when fully documented. Please confirm.
If fully documented, it is reasonable to expect that the strategy proposed would represent equivalency to the requirements of MR 1.2, based on the fact that over 98% of the existing shell and structure is reused, and over 20% of the existing non-shell elements are reused to help make up for the loss of a small fraction of the shell.
