In a campus setting, can we define the site in a way that limits the site developed to the area immediately around the building including walks and landscaping? On this site there is an existing parking lot with porous paving across the road from the building that we propose to use for parking requirements for van pool/ car pool and also alternative fuel vehicles (but not include the lot in the calcs for the site). Because it is an existing lot and used for other buildings too on the campus can we not include it in the area calcs?
No. If the existing parking lot is included in the calculations for one credit, it must be included in all other applicable credit calculations. Previous CIRs require that teams define the scope of their projects consistently across all credits; examples of germane CIRs can be found under SSc5.2, dated 1/18/2002, and SSc7.1, dated 8/2/2001. Applicable internationally.
