The proposed strategy seems to be part of a significant effort to reduce the use and manufacture of environmentally harmful substances - some of which are not currently addressed in existing LEED Credits. In order to be awarded an innovation credit for this strategy, the applicant will be required to document the environmental benefits realized in such a way as to clearly demonstrate that the strategy is above and beyond conventional practice. Documentation strategies might include quantifying the amount of materials used in the project compared to conventional practice, demonstrating significant environmental benefit.
