Interpretation request - Innovation in Design: Halogen free cables and electric boxes. It has been specified in the design and installed in the buildings, that all electric materials are Halogen, CFCs, HCFCs and CADMIUM free. This includes all cables, electric boxes, switches, keys, boards backs and doors and all electric mechanisms of all electrical elements in buildings. The electric elements are made using resins and thermal plastics There is not regulation in SPAIN that obliges to do that. Does this innovation applies for a credit? In case of an affirmative answer. What is the material we must present to the Council to document this credit?

The proposed strategy seems to be part of a significant effort to reduce the use and manufacture of environmentally harmful substances - some of which are not currently addressed in existing LEED Credits. In order to be awarded an innovation credit for this strategy, the applicant will be required to document the environmental benefits realized in such a way as to clearly demonstrate that the strategy is above and beyond conventional practice. Documentation strategies might include quantifying the amount of materials used in the project compared to conventional practice, demonstrating significant environmental benefit. Manufacturer\'s information about these products should be provided to supplement the environmental benefits claimed by the project team. Applicable internationally.
