Solar Light Fixtures Our current project is the first phase of a multi-phase master plan development. The project is a 5-story office building with surface parking and a developed open space area. We are planning to use solar light fixtures in the parking area (and for later phases of the development). Under 2.1, would this earn a credit by itself for "innovation in design"?
Use of a photovoltaic (PV) system does not qualify for an innovation point. LEED has established a threshold for achieving points for the use of a PV energy system. Under EA credit 2, a point is awarded for each 5% increment of total building energy use provided by a PV system. In addition, PV energy generation contributes to building energy performance under EA credit 1, even if the 5% threshold is not achieved. Applicable internationally.
