The EPA\'s Energy Star program addresses roofing products categorized into two roof types: 1. low slope roofs (roofs with slopes less than 2:12) and, 2. steep slope roofs (roofs with slopes greater than or equal to 2:12. The solar reflectance requirements for each type is different. Could you please clarify at your earliest opportunity that the credit applies as well to steep sloped roofs?
The credit can be earned by either roof type, as long as the applicable EPA requirements are met. For steep-slope roofs, the initial reflectance must be at least 0.25 and the 3 year aged reflectance of at least 0.15 when tested in accordance with ASTM E903, the emmisivity must be at least 0.9 when tested in accordance with ASTM 408.
