This project has many perimeter offices, most of which have operable windows. There are spaces, however within 15 feet of the perimeter that do not. The reference guide states that "all regularly occupied areas" must have 1 window per 200 s.f. Does having one room in this perimeter zone without a window disquality the project for this credit? How do you define regularly occupied (meeting room, copy room?)and is relief provided if an operable window is not desirable (prison cell). Table 1 in the reference guide would appear to not qualify as one room does not comply.
The LEED Rating System page 37 requires that ALL occupied space within 15 FT of the perimeter wall have 1 operable window per 200 SF. LEED rewards projects that are designed such that occupied spaces at the perimeter have access to operable windows. Projects may either add windows to meet the credit, remove partitions to share windows over a larger program area, or locate spaces such that a non-occupied space is located along the perimeter where a window does not exist. For a definition of regularly occupied space, refer to CIR 0098-EQc6.1-110901. Applicable internationally.
