Time and Cost Data We propose an innovation credit to provide the USGBC with time and cost data relative to LEED for all phases of this project. Will we achieve an innovation credit if we execute the following (attachments available upon request): Intent: Provide LEED staff with time and cost data relative to LEED for all phases of the building project including planning, design, construction, documentation and certification, commissioning and operation. Requirements: Develop and implement a method for collecting the following data: Labor time and expenses associated with the LEED process including planning, design, and construction. Labor time and expenses associated with LEED documentation and certification Effect of LEED and green building on the project budget Operational energy savings Cost of commissioning the building Submittals: Provide a spreadsheet with labor time and expenses (including material expenses) relative to LEED for each phase of the project (planning, design, construction) identifying the responsible entity for each expense. Provide a spreadsheet with labor time and expenses associated with LEED documentation and certification identifying the responsible entity for each expense. Based on the previous spreadsheets and any additional relevant data, estimate the effect of LEED and green building on the project budget. Based on the model created for EA Credit 1 (Optimize Energy Efficiency) estimate the annual operational energy savings for the building relative to the baseline energy cost budget. Based on the contracts with the commissioning authority, provide the cost of commissioning the building - both fundamental and additional commissioning. Design Approach: Use the attached survey forms to track LEED activities in real time, and to collect historical data on LEED activities by project phase. Compile these data into a spreadsheet which breaks out each activity by credit. Summarize these data (roll-up) in one table, which lists labor, material, and other expenses associated with LEED for each phase of the project.
The USGBC has determined for previous projects that the collection of cost data does not represent an innovation in design that qualifies for an ID credit point. However, project teams are highly encouraged to submit such data to USGBC, as it is very useful for LEED research purposes. Applicable internationally.
