We propose that in high-rise residential LEED projects, bedrooms may be excluded from the daylight calculations for EQ Credit 8.1, as "spaces where tasks would be hindered by the use of daylight." (LEED 2.1 language) Same logic for EQ Credit 8.2 on Views. Pls advise.
Bedrooms may not be excluded. This question has already been addressed by CIR on this topic dated 1/04/02. Please refer to that CIR for a detailed answer to your question. The same answer applies to EQ credit 8.2, i.e. bedrooms may NOT be excluded from calculations for EQ credit 8.1 and 8.2. The Credit Ruling Committee was surprised that bedrooms in a multifamily high-rise would not meet the requirements of these credits, and suggested that the project review the calculation methodology for these credits.
