The LEED Reference Guide mentions passive solar strategies for heating and cooling as examples of sample design strategies. Does this mean they can be counted as renewable/alternative energy strategies? Can natural ventilation also be counted toward this credit?
Ruling
No it will not. This intent of this credit is to reward new approaches to generating energy on site. Examples that meet the credit are Building Integrated Photo Voltaic Panels (BIPVs), fuel cells and geo-thermal heating. Applicable internationally.
