For part (b), can this credit be earned if all aspects of the credit are met except mesh barriers on the dryer vents? Projects are concerned about putting pest proof screens on dryer vents for multifamily projects. If projects put spring loaded covers so the vents are closed when not in operation, is this acceptable?
Ruling
If the dryer vents have some kind of self-closing mechanism to meet the intent, and all other elements of the credit are satisfied, this is acceptable. Please review local codes, as they may have insight into acceptable strategies for dryer vents.
