The Mid-rise Pilot Guideline states that this credit can only be met by installing continuous exhausting fans. This project would like to install exhaust fans with CO monitors as an alternative to meet the intent of the credit. The structured parking deck will contain exhaust fans and carbon monoxide (CO) monitors on each level. When the monitors detect that CO levels reach 35 ppm, the exhaust fans will activate automatically until levels reach the safe and desired levels.
**Updated 10/1/14:
Following v4 credit for EQ credit Enhanced Garage Pollutant Protection on controls is acceptable. They state "The exhaust fan may either run continuously, or on a carbon monoxide sensor that turns on the fan when ambient CO levels reach 35 ppm."
Previous ruling no longer valid (for reference only):
The use of carbon monoxide sensors to trigger the ventilation system may be used to turn on exhaust fans when the ambient CO levels reach 35 ppm. Carbon monoxide sensors must be placed strategically so that they cover the entire the garage.
