If local code sets a limit on the number of bedrooms (e.g. due to the use of a septic system) or prevents a specific space from being counted as a bedroom, does this prevent a space from being counted as a bedroom for the purposes of LEED for Homes?
Ruling
If the number of bedrooms is limited by code requirements, or if a specific room cannot be counted as a bedroom due to code requirements, then the room cannot be counted as a bedroom under LEED for Homes. This applies, even if all other conditions in the Rating System are met.
