Number of Floors in Project Space, or Building?

The percentage floor area required to have quality views is dependent on the number of floors in the building. For a CI project, do we count only the number of floors associated with the project space, or do we in fact count all floors in the building (including floors that are not included in the project space)?

I vote for only what's part of your project space. I could see there being possible conflict for tenant projects that are only renovating part of their total space in a building, in which case maybe they would expect the total out of the whole area taken by the tenant, whether in the current scope or not (kind of like they do with including all plumbing fixtures whether in scope or not).

I agree with Emily, I don't see anything in the pilot credit that would require you to look outside of the LEED project boundary. I would only look at the spaces and floors included in the project.

Our team had this question as well. Based on the Pilot Credit Survey question, it appears that the credit is looking for the number of floors in the building in which the CI proejct is located. So you may be a 1 floor CI project in a 16 story building, and then you would follow the credit requriements based on 16 floors. I'd be curious to know what other teams think. I agree that the language for this could be clearer.

In past projects, we achieved this pilot considering the number of project floors, not the number of base building floors.

We had the same doubt regarding Commercial Interiors projects. But it makes more sense to consider only the project floors to meet the requirements of the percentage of nonregularly occupied floor area with quality views.
