Hi,

we need to test compliance of an office building with the LEED v4 Daylight criteria (NC-v4 EQc7), following Option 1 (sDA, ASE calculations). The building has external movable elements (vertical louvers tracking sun) that we designed for solar control in order to meet indoor thermal comfort requirements. We were wondering about the following:

1. Do we account for the operation of the external movable elements for the calculation of ASE? We can import their operation control according to the thermal comfort analysis, which is what is suggested by LM-83-12 (section 2.2.6). Can you confirm this?

2. Is the ASE threshold always equal to 10% or are there exceptions to this?

3. The LEED v4.1 Fact Sheet indicates that the sDA threshold for 1 credit is 40% (instead of the 55% threshold in v4). Can we selectively apply this modification in our LEED v4 certification?

4. The LEED v4.1 Fact Sheet indicates that meeting the ASE maximum threshold is no longer required and that we must provide a narrative explaining how the design addresses glare issues. Can we selectively apply this modification in our LEED v4 certification? Our strategy is the operation of movable external elements (vertical louvers blocking sun/ minimizing sun patches indoors).

Any advice would be highly appreciated,

Kind regards
