CI-v4 WEp1:Indoor water use reduction

ID+C Retail -- Dishwasher requirements for WEp1

A retail space inside a mall is exploring to purchase a dishwasher. This dishwasher will be used by the limited store employees only twice a day.

To clear the pre-requisite, will an energy-star rated dishwasher suffice? (There is a water consumption requirement in terms of Gal/Rack)

This dishwasher will be counted as a residential or commercial grade? (What are the parameters to classify it as Resi/Commerical)

(Client has sought confirmation about a dishwasher having 2 racks and consumes 3 gal./cycle. Can we consider it as 1.5 gal./rack then ?)

What you describe would be considered a residential dishwasher. Commercial ones are what you would see inside a cafeteria kitchen or restaurant. So yes, Energy Star would meet the Prereq requirements. Not sure about the use per rack; my very rudimentary understanding is that the lower rack uses more water and force (and heat) than the upper. That info is not required in the calcs or on the credit form, though. I'd guess a question to the manufacturer would best answer it.
