Hello Sustainable MEP Leaders!
Over the weekend BuildingGreen received an inquiry about connecting with this peer network regarding a project. Please review David Cohan's email below to see if it is something of interest for this group.
We would invite you to reach out directly to David Cohan and let us here at BuildingGreen know if you have any interest in us coordinating a webinar for the network as a whole.
Best,
RoseAnn for the BuildingGreen team

DAVID'S EMAIL:
I am looking for assistance connecting to members of your Sustainable MEP Leaders Group for a project we were recently awarded by the New York State Energy and Research Authority (NYSERDA). Over the next three years, we will be demonstrating a new, systems-based HVAC approach in fifteen commercial buildings in New York state and we need help identifying and recruiting building owners to participate. Please note that we are not asking for or competing for clients. We are a non-profit advocating for improved building performance. Our only interest is in promoting energy efficiency, electrification and healthy buildings to drive wide-scale adoption. This is an opportunity for your members to be involved with cutting edge projects with their existing clients. Our job is to help them succeed by providing technical assistance to design and installation teams and then promoting the results.
The approach we will be using was developed by the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance and demonstrated in eight small commercial buildings two years ago. Energy savings averaged 70% and demand savings ranged from 20%-40%. Detailed information on the results of those projects is available here. Two of the NEEA buildings converted from gas heat to electric heat and their overall electric use still went down, showing the potential for large-scale electrification without the need for massive investments in grid infrastructure. The approach also provides Covid-related health benefits as it requires extremely high efficiency HRVs/ERVs which use MERV 13 filters, provide dedicated outdoor air and limit recirculated air to specified zones within the building.
Please let me know how we can best work with you. We would be happy to present a webinar to your members that explains both the technical approach and the project we are doing. We could also work with them individually through email if that is more appropriate.
I hope to hear from you soon.
Thank you,
David
