Wanted: equity case studies

Hi folks,

Has your firm:

- hired a consultant to conduct firmwide bias training?

- revamped its hiring process using an antiracist lens?

- developed coaching circles / reading groups around racism/anti-racism?

- instituted new support structures for staff development around inclusivity?

- some other great idea not listed here?

If so, we we want to hear from you! A group of us are trying to collect (and share) equity/anti-racism initiatives that firms have undertaken, as part of developing a resource for folks like us trying to pitch ideas to their leadership. Can you take a moment to fill out this short survey? Thanks!

Michelle, Thornton Tomasetti has made some progress on that end, including coaching circles and anti-bias training. I’ve sent your link to the person leading the efforts within the company. Ale. It's great that you're doing this, Michelle, as sharing resources is so important and helpful.  I forwarded your message to our EDI Committee co-chairs so they can complete the survey.

Great idea, Michelle! I hope you don’t mind if I piggyback on this thread, as I was just planning to post a request for interviews on this topic. I’m writing specifically about bias training and how it’s affecting firms—both benefits and limitations. So if anyone wants to talk about that publicly rather than just in Michelle's survey, I’d love to hear your story! You can write to me directly at paula@buildinggreen.com. Thanks so much. Hi folks, We're still looking for equity initiative case studies. Did you forward on the survey link to someone in your organization? It's the perfect time to follow up with them to see if they actually filled it out.  Did you mean to fill it out but got overwhelmed? I feel you. Just imagine how good it will be to scratch this off of the list, and it only takes a few minutes. Would you rather just have me talk to someone over the phone? No problem, send me an email intro and I'll take it from there.  Resource posting soon!

Hi folks, At long last, we have paused our fiddling and hereby publish this first version of the Equity Education/Advocacy resource to this group as a Google doc, for everyone's review and comment. Also attached as a .pdf in case Google docs is just too painful for you. Our hope is that this is just version 1.0, and that you'll help us get it to a version 2.0 by making it better and clearer, enriching it with more examples, and expanding it to go beyond the SDL network to include sections authored by the SCL and SMEP networks.  Thank you to all of the folks who filled out the survey, and to those who attended calls over the months following the Summer SDL Summit to try and figure out what could be most useful to this group.  Our next call will focus on the linked Google slide deck, where we hope to compile useful images/diagrams that we're all seeing as a resource for others to use in making their case for JEDI in their firms.  We eagerly await your ideas/comments! Michelle Amt / Margaret Montgomery / Pauline Souza + the SDL Equity Working Group
