Under v4, there is an option for getting an extra point if you have a number of different routes and nothing is more than 60% of the trips. Does anyone know if that option is stil available under v4.1? The documentation I have doesn't show it specifically under v4.1, but nor have I seen it listed as a change in v4.1. That would be a significant change in my opinion. Very confusing to submit in LEED Online because when you change to v4.1, the thresholds don't change, so it isn't clear if that is still an option or not. Thanks in adavance for any thoughts...

Hi Joseph. I posed the same question to GBCI recently and was told that due to the reduced trip number thresholds in LEED v4.1 the option for "projects served by two or more transit routes such that no one route provides more than 60% of the prescribed levels may earn one additional point, up to the maximum number of points" is not available in LEED v4.1. If I have a LEED v4 project, I generally run the calculation under both LEED v4 and LEED v4.1 to see which is more advantageous pointswise. Often LEED v4 comes out ahead with the extra point.

Thank you, Summer! Yes, shortly after I posted, I finally came across a really good v4.1 document from July 2020. This is a fully redlined version of the v4 reference guide, and this clearly shows that 60% item stricken from the record. https://build.usgbc.org/l/413862/2019-01-18/nfbsds/413862/153169/LEED_v4... For others, yes, as Summer says, you kind of need to run calcs for both and see which one is most beneficial. We are seeing that as well that the extra point either puts it equal or better than 4.1.

would you please explain in V4, how I get an extra point while the 2 different routes less than 60% of the trips? I bit confused as according to my understanding, we get extra point if it is more than 60%, please advise

In LEED v4, Access to Quality Transit, the reference guide states, "Projects served by two or more transit routes such that no one route provides more than 60% of the prescribed levels may earn one additional point, up to the maximum number of points." So for example let's say your project meets Table 1 requirements of 72 weekday trips and 40 weekend trips, your project is eligible for 1 point under LEED BD+C. But if those 72/40 routes are served by two bus routes, lets call them A and B, and A provides 36 weekday and 20 weekend (50% of the trips) and B provides 36 weekday and 20 weekend (50% of the trips), then neither route represents greater than 60% of the available trips and you would be eligible for 1 additional point. The intent here is to promote a variety of transit routes with no single transit route representing the vast majority of available trips.
