My project pursued optimized energy performance option 2 - prescriptive compliance. An Energy model was not created for this building, so I intend to calculate out energy use via the U.S. Department of Energy’s Commercial Buildings Energy Consumption Survey (CBECS) database to determine the renewable energy credits needed. This building contains several large areas broken up by function: offices, inpatient healthcare, outpatient healthcare, food service, and a laboratory. Unfortunately, laboratories are not listed in the CBECS table E2 for estimating energy use based on the area of the building. Is there an MBH/SF value for laboratories that I can use somewhere? Should I use the "other" category in the CBECS table E2? Thank you for your help.
