NC-v4.1 EAp2:Minimum Energy Performance

Can consider sports club as public assembly to select baseline system

Hi All,

We are doing the energy model for sports club project which has 1,60,000 sq.ft floor area under LEED v4.1 BD+C considering the LEED Interpretation 10488. This sports club is consisting of enclosed playing field with seating areas, gymnasium, swimming pool, kids play areas & lobby areas. In addition, there are few office areas. However, the floor area of office spaces is less than 5,000 sq.ft.

We need a clarification for the following questions,

  1. Can we consider this building as public assembly to select the baseline system as per table G3.1.1.3? since the most of spaces will be utilized by the employees of govt company.
  2. If above is yes. Whether we must consider water cooled chiller or air-cooled chiller?

1. Looks like it. See note 5 under Table G3.1.1-3. 2. Systems 12 and 13 are water cooled.
