Searching for great video tours of sustainable projects

Hi All: I'm writing to see if I can get some recommendations/links to some great, free web tours of sustainable projects for use in an intro to sustainability class I'm teaching online this fall. Typically we tour some local buildings but that isn't an option this year. I'm hoping to find a few different ones for students to choose from. They should optimally be at an introductory level. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Fallback is to have them read some of the great COTE Top Ten profiles but that's not as much fun.

Thanks in advance.

Mary Ann

Hi Mary Ann, this video was produced by Valencia College but it was a sneak peek at their now three-year-old new Poinciana Campus. It outlines a few of the sustainable features. https://youtu.be/MEkHa6h-hf8

MAL Some great stuff from the Kern Center at Hampshire College, including a short video and the ability to schedule virtual tours. This is a Living Building. https://sites.hampshire.edu/rwkerncenter/about/ And right up the street is the Hitchcock Center for the Environment. Another Living Building (Linnean worked on this one, including building the super cool building dashboard https://hitchcock.hellobeacon.com/living-building/mode/mobile/ ). There is a lovely time lapse video go construction here: https://player.vimeo.com/video/183887681? https://www.hitchcockcenter.org/our-living-building-project/ Jim Newman | Principal Linnean Solutions Cambridge, MA | Portland, ME www.linneansolutions.com (617) 699-7323

Hi Mary Anne,  Shan Arora, the director of the Kendeda Building for Innovative Sustainable Design at Georgia Tech, gave a 'COVID-friendly' 1-hour virtual tour as part of Georgia Tech's Earth Day celebration this year: http://www.earthday.gatech.edu/super-block/400 (the building tour starts at about 5:30 in the video).  He also delivered a shorter 13 minute virtual tour at Living Future this year. I've asked him to provide the link, which I'll forward upon receipt. -Jim

This is a great LBC tutorial. I'd appreciate getting the 13 minute link when you can. Many thanks.

Just finished the Santa Monica City Services Building, pursuing LBC. We did a grand opening virtual tour and Q&A with USGBC LA, it’s almost 2 hours and a little wobbly but lots of content: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2Fvnyu6_PY&feature=youtu.be Here’s a short video by our engineers BuroHappold, less than 8 minutes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpOybZARYWk Jessie Buckmaster, LEED AP® BD+C Sustainability Manager [HDCCo Logo] Office: 213.634.2796 Cell: 213.435.4191 buckmasterj@hdcco.com From

Mary Ann- One more, in case it proves helpful. We created an educational website with a virtual tour for the CoLab project as part of our Petal certification. This is a small mass timber project – LEED v4 Platinum, LBC Petal – materials/place/beauty, targeting NZE www.colab.build Katie Rothenberg Managing Director Paladino and Company 301-830-3432 Fro
