Hello there,
Are materials used to adhere the waterproofing and/or weatherproofing membranes excluded from low-emitting requirements regardless of what side it’s applied to? For example, a weatherproofing barrier primer or blueskin adhesive.
I've received conflicting advice from LEED Coach indicating both yes it's excluded, and also no it's not.
What has been other people's experiences?

I would think that the adhesive applied to the INSIDE of the waterproofing should be included. See the examples in the v4 Reference Manual.
And yes, curious to hear of others' experience.

Our understanding is that adhesives and sealants that are part of the waterproofing system, such as roof adhesive, are considered outside the waterproofing envelope/ not covered by LEED low-emitting credits. I believe this was in an old CIR, and still stands true today.

We have been treating the adhesives and sealants as part of the waterproofing system as well (no matter what side of the weatherbarrier they are applied on) and have considered them not within the scope of the LEM requirements on our LEEDv4 projects substituting in the LEEDv4.1 LEM credit.
I'd appreciate anyone reporting back with any feedback from LEEDcoach, USGBC/CaGBC about this subject and I'll endeavour to do the same.
