NC-v4.1 MRc2:Environmental Product Declarations

Multiple EPDs for the same material

Dear All,

In a certification project, we received 4 different EPDs for structural steel. These EPDs are from different manufacturer’s and have different declaration numbers.

Can I consider every one of them or can I only count 1 as an EPD for structural steel?

Thanks in advance,

My assessment would be if they are product-specific, Type III EPDs specific to each manufacturer, you may be able to count them. If it was the same industry-wide EPD that would be different. The only question I'd have is USGBC looks to see if they materials are inter-dependent - i.e. could you have ony component w/o the others. For example, on interior metal studs, they count that as one product - rather than counting studs vs track vs fasteners, etc as separate products, even if they are listed separately on the EPD
