LEED v4.1-EAc5-Renewable Energy - Green-e certified

Good day,

When purchasing offsite renewable energy (Tier 1-green power from a utility provider) to offset building's GHG emissions, does the green power have to be Green-e certified as is the case in LEEDv4?

Thank you.

Tier 1 is not green power from a utility provider, it is an onsite renewable energy system. Based on the credit language the green power must be Green-e if purchasing RECs under Tier 4 or 5.

Hi Marcus, Thank you for the reponse.  My error, I actually meant to ask about Tier 2 energy procurement. Thanks.

Tier 2 appears to me to be an off-site system renewable system and also not green power from a utility provider. So no it does not have to be Green-e.
