Dear All,
In what relates to flush-out option, the guide specifies that 4 267 140 liters of outdoor air per square meter of gross floor area (GFA) should be supplied.
My question is the following: the area to be considered in the calculation of flush-out outdoor air volumes refers to occupiable spaces GFA only, or to the total project GFA (which includes non-occupiable spaces)?
In our opinion, taking into account the intent of this credit (“To promote occupants’ comfort, well-being, and productivity by improving indoor air quality”), we should be able to exclude some portions of the project GFA which is not occupiable or where occupation is not expected. Specifically:
- Elevator shafts;
- Interior partitions (we are currently working on a hospitality project where interior partitions have a significant area);
- Emergency staircases;
- Technical zones not meant to be occupied (pumping stations, electric switchboards, etc);
Can anyone validate our approach?
Thanks in advance
