Sharing the 2020 SDL Winter Summit Report and Workshop Notes!

Hello Everyone,

We wanted to share the highlights and take-aways from the large firm Sustainable Design Leaders (SDL) 2020 Winter Summit at The Lodge at Gulf State Park, AL. Additionally, this was the first year we had a pre-summit workshop for the winter summit. Our amazing workshop facilitator, Julie Huffaker from Deeper Funner Change, lead us through a day focused on Collaborative Facilitation.

Here is the 2020 SDL Winter Summit Report.

Attached are the notes from the Collaborative Facilitation Pre-Summit Workshop.

Enjoy!

It is always so amazing to look at these reports and see the progression from where we were at the first summit in Colorado like the progress in the % of 2030 committed firms. At the same time there are many issues, like the role sometimes being lonely for some, that remain constant. I love seeing the familiar faces in the look-book who have become lifelong friends along with my Massachusetts peeps and the many who I don’t know and hope to meet soon. Nadav, it might be fun/interesting and of value to do a report looking back over the years at the shift (or not) in “who we are” and also at the change or similarities in topics discussed. For instance I remember clearly having a chart on the wall in Colorado looking at the programs we used and then seeing the chart in this report with the majority of the programs having not even existed then. And I don’t think many of us were even talking about embodied carbon until Larry Strain showed his infamous graph. We were all sending our own surveys to manufacturers regarding transparency. HPDs didn’t exist yet. It might be cool to see the progression and the rate of change. I find it sometimes easy to feel defeated in this industry and yet if we look back over the time since this group first met there has actually been a ton of progress. Congrats on another successful summit. -Meredith Sent from my iPad
