Hello Green Gurus!
Here are the details for the next Peer Networks Webinar (happening next week!): Don't forget to REGISTER HERE!
Define and Contract for Building Performance Simulation Services Using ASHRAE Standard 209
Thursday, February 13, 3pm EST (12pm PST)
ASHRAE Standard 209-2018 “Energy Simulation Aided Design” provides an industry consensus framework that can be referenced as a part of a project scope of work by architects (and building owners) seeking an effective, uniform way to use building performance simulation to achieve performance objectives. A small group of Green Gurus, drawn from both the SDL and Sustainable MEP Leader networks, has developed a model scope of work/service document for this purpose. This 3-page Word doc provides sample narrative and editor’s notes to help project teams create a comprehensive scope statement for use in RFPs and Agreements, using the Standard 209 compliance framework.
Access to this webinar is included with your Peer Networks membership—reserve your spot HERE now.
About the presenters
Kjell Anderson, AIA, LEED Fellow, practices architecture and serves as a Principal and the Director of Sustainable Design at LMN Architects, AIA Firm Award winner in 2016. He brings a pragmatic perspective from designing and detailing buildings over two decades. He wrote the first architect-centered book on energy modeling and has spoken extensively, including the keynote address at the 2016 Simbuild conference. Active in all levels of code review and development, he serves on the Washington State Building Code Council and the AIA National Energy Leadership Group as well as the AIA Washington Carbon Committee. He believes architects are natural leaders and coordinators of the built environment, but need to drastically step up our efforts, taking ownership of our carbon emissions embodied in building materials, from our design's operational energy use, refrigerants, site design, and more.
Kim Shinn is a recovering physicist, professional engineer and an Executive Principal and Senior Wizard with TLC Engineering Solutions.
He is an ASHRAE certified Building Energy Modeling Professional, a LEED Accredited Professional and was elevated to LEED Fellow in 2011. Kim helped create the Green Guide for Health Care (GGHC) and LEED for Healthcare; ASHRAE Standards 135 BACnet and 209 Energy Simulation Aided Design and the Advanced Energy Design Guide for Large Hospitals; as well as co-authoring the AIA’s Architect’s Guide to Building Performance Simulation. Kim currently serves on healthcare design magazine’s editorial advisory board, AIA’s national Energy Leadership Group and ASHRAE Committee 228P Standard Method of Evaluating Zero Energy Building Performance.
