Here are some EDI resources from our internal discussions about EDI. Please don't share them with any identifying information outside this group as they do not reflect our official policies, yet. The Social Justice Research Presentation shows some of the research we have done into Just., B Corps, Benefit Corporations and Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). Also a Just. cheat sheet and a brainstorming wish list of changes an architecture office could make to make work life better for women:
•Create mentorship opportunities for women in the office to help understand management structure
•Goal of having women speak 50% of the time in project interviews.
•Goal of having women speak 50 % of time in project meetings
•Create pay scale transparency
•Create promotion transparency
•Revise Personnel Guidelines to encourage an equal culture.
•Allow flexible schedules to accommodate different home-work schedules including working from home.
•Do not schedule internal meetings before 10 am or after 3pm.
•Give 10 hours a year to employees to be used for advocacy or community functions such as “Women in Design” meetings
•Create a parental leave policy, preferably paid, that encourages parents to take off the time they need.
•Change buy-in/buy-out schedule for principals to accommodate women who choose children. (Rolling clock approach)
•Provide the office data on gender breakdown of the office for current empolyees (PiC, PM, PA, Designer)
•Provide the office a list of people who have left the last 10 years by gender
