CS-v4 WEp2:Indoor water use reduction

Infra-red electronic basin mixer

Dear all,

in our office project we will use public lavatory restroom faucets that has infrared sensors which detects hand movement. So water only runs when it’s needed. In this case the default duration of 30 seconds are to much in my opinion. What do you think?

Most of the ones I encounter have a limit that they will run if your hands stay within the sensor range; for that, 30 seems like the max. I believe most do not run that long...seems like 10 seconds is more the normal, though I'm in California, so that just might be the normal here. The CDC recommends 20 seconds of total hand washing, but even that doesn't mean with the water running, as you have to lather away from the water, then rinse it off. Personally, I'd say 30 is too long. I'm not sure of any applicable standard you could reference.
